Way to go Mini-THONers!
East Hanover Elementary's Mini-THON took place on Friday and helped "Blast Cancer Out of this World" by raising $12,074.85 for Four Diamonds at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital! And Mr. Bruce's 5th grade class won Penny Wars, benefitting both Mini-THON and JDRF! Great job to everyone involved!

Thank you to students, teachers, parents, sponsors and friends who helped make a difference in the fight against childhood cancer and for contributing to the success of this event!

For The Kids - FTK!

Be Kind - A District Kindness Initiative
Through all of April, we will be practicing KINDNESS.

Kindness has been shown to cause a ripple effect. Research shows if you show kindness to one person, that person will show kindness to four people and those four people will show kindness to four more people and so on. These exchanges of kindness can change the world.

Lower Dauphin Communities That Care (LD CTC) and the LD Connections Club believe in this “be kind” attitude and have launched their first  Kindness Initiative focused on intentional acts of kindness in our schools, workplaces and the community. We are challenging children of all ages and adults in our community to simply be kind to one another ‒  to intentionally be kind ‒ by offering up a smile, giving a high five, befriending someone new, or in any way you like!

In addition to wearing your BE KIND shirt every Friday in April, a Kindness Challenge Calendar has been sent home with you child. Talk with you student about how they can show and spread kindness at home, at school and in our community.

Classroom Guest Readers Needed
As part of the Lower Dauphin Be Kind initiative, we are looking for volunteers to serve as guest readers each Friday in April. Volunteers would be provided a book about kindness to read to one (or more) of our Kindergarten- 2nd grade classrooms. Approved clearances are required. Sign up here.

There are several 30-minute time slots and the goal is that each volunteer would be able to read to 2 classes during that time. Volunteers are welcome to sign up for more than 1 time slot. Please know that you may not be in your student's classroom.

Please email Mrs. Bruce with questions at lbruce@ldsd.org.
